A third Lack of Effect code, “ Therapeutic Product Ineffective” is used to capture vaccine recipients who have received doses in accordance with an alternate (typically a 2+1= 2 dose Primary series, followed by 1 booster dose) immunization schedule. The term is selected in the following situations:When a patient received two doses of the primary vaccination series OR the patient received three doses and is greater than 16 months of age at the time of onset of the disease/ illness, or the patient received 3 doses of the vaccine and the patient’s age is unknown and At least 14 days have elapsed since the last immunization (including booster dose as recommended) andThe patient experienced a disease for which the vaccine is indicated, and the disease was caused by a vaccine preventable serotype This term is used to assist with the monitoring of patients who experience a vaccine preventable illness caused by a vaccine preventable organism (including a vaccine preventable sero-type/sero-group) following receipt of an alternate (typically a 2 dose Primary series) immunization schedule.
