Table 3 summarizes the annual energy use and 10-year emission totals for the theoretical fluorescent and LED systems, based on 2,000 and 4,000 annual operating hours. In both cases, the linear LED (assumed to draw 38 W total per luminaire) reduces energy use, energy cost, and emissions compared to the fluorescent benchmark (assumed to draw 51 W per luminaire), because of its lower power draw. Emissions are based on the U.S. average mix of fuels used for electricity generation.
