1 - INTRODUCTIONThe objective of this procedure is to establish the minimum requirements to be followed by the CITIC during the execution of the surface preparation and painting application for the ANTICORROSIVE PROTECTION OF THE UNDERGROUND PIPES FOR THE FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM..2 – GENERAL CONDITIONS2.1 - For new surfaces, with or without mill scale, the surface preparation shall be done by dry blasting to GRADE ISO 8501-1 - Sa 2 ½, minimum, followed by a detailed cleaning by means compressed air free from oil and water and/or brush/broom and/or vacuum cleaners dust. 2.2 - Corroded surfaces not assembled which is impossible or difficult to clean by manual and/or mechanical tools shall be sending to blast outside the CSA field.2.3 - Before to the blast operation and before surface preparation by means mechanical and/or manual tools, all surfaces must be totally water cleaned to remove soluble salts, dust, cement and other impurities. Oils, greases, fats products and others oily contaminants shall be totally removed by means solvent cleaning or by means of an industrial biodegradable detergent, followed by water rinsing.2.4 - Dry blasting at blasting cabinet to GRADE ISO 8501-1 - Sa 2 ½, surface profile 40 to 85 µm and apply the first or the prime coat in a short time. This coat must be applied immediately, if possible.2.5 - After assembly and mounting works, welds, sharp edges and damage coatings shall be prepared by means dry blasting to GRADE ISO 8501-1 - Sa 2 ½, surface profile 40 to 85 µm, if possible. If not possible these surfaces must be prepared with manual or mechanical tools, GRADE ISO 8501-1 – St 3, minimum.2.6 - Before surface preparation all surfaces must be rinsing with water at 2.000 to 3.000 psi and shall follow the specified painting system further this document.2.7 – In case of retouching on damage paintwork, the original system must be repeated. Whenever is not possible to perform abrasive blasting to GRADE ISO 8501-1 - Sa 2 ½, manual and/or mechanical cleaning GRADE ISO 8501-1 – St 3, minimum, shall be performed, after CSA approval.2.8 – To prepare the surfaces by means abrasive blasting, CITIC shall use the basalt and / or the casting of copper slag as abrasives to GRADE ISO 8501-1 - Sa 2 ½, surface profile 40 to 85 µm, after CSA approval.
