European malting barley market: Malting markets are erratically active. Maltsters are gradually returning to purchasing with better prospects for malt and beer industry. In winter barley the qualities are very good on average but heterogeneous. Farmers and first hands still sell little. Operators are surely waiting to have a full view of what came in during the harvest. The market is still held on the ports. Regarding spring barley market it is slightly weaker with a decent crop in terms of yields and good in terms of quality. French malting premiums above the feed remain high in a context of malting barley surplus which promises to be a record in Europe: 20€ for spring barley and 15€ for winter barley
