The molecular mechanism of BTXA in scar prevention is still not completely understood. Some experimental studies have revealed that BTXA can delay fibroblast growth by inhibiting the cell cycle and is able to decrease the expression of transforming growth factor-b1 (TGF-b1)during wound healing [18, 19]. In addition, BTXA has been proven to inhibit fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation in vitro [20]. These studies provide theoretical support for the clinical application of BTXA for scar prev ention.
