Although the 1-D classical sideways problem and some fractional IHCPs have been widely studied in the last decades, the difficulty for solving and analyzing higher-dimensional cases increases rapidly with the dimension. Up until now, most of the existing literature has been restricted to 1-D inverse problems for fractional IHCPs. Some examples among them are the uniqueness of an inverse problem for the 1-D fractional diffusion equation given by Cheng et al. [15], a regularization method for a Cauchy problem of the fractional-time advection-dispersion equation in space-bounded domains by Zheng and Wei [16], and some numerical results using a difference method by Bondarenko [17] and Murio [18].
