The first thing I realized, when trying to do this, was that I needed a very strong narrator with a physical body. This is why the narrator in those first few chapters presents herself as a physical body. She must tell us about herself, her strength, her physicality. This was needed because someone has to hold the narrative together. Then, there are two main ideas that weave throughout the book. First, it is about traveling: changing physical space, perception, and exploration. Secondly, it is about the human body as a container: as a vehicle, very fragile and mortal, and so on. These two elements of the narrative weave through each other constantly, connecting in some moments and then going apart. So this was my conception of form for this novel.
