In view of the high occupant loading during peak hours and the long travel distance underground, characteristics of passenger flow in large underground railway stations need to be further studied. Good emergency management system would ensure short travel time even when trains do not stop at the right position. Appropriate safety management schemes related to the abnormal condition of PSDs in emergency evacuation through PSDs must be worked out. Fire hazard due to different fire sources, smoke movement and total evacuation procedure in underground stations should be studied in more detail.
